Ep. 25: Modeling Environmental DNA Movement in Streams, Arial Shogren

Arial Shogren

This month's podcast features Arial Shogren discussing the challenges and benefits of using environmental DNA as a tool and her research on how particles like it move through streams.

Arial Shogren is a doctoral candidate at the University of Notre Dame where her research focuses on understanding how novel particles, like environmental DNA (eDNA) and microplastics, move through streams. Her work combines experimental and modeling approaches to help understand the influence of environmental heterogeneity in controlling particle movement and uses an interdisciplinary approach to tackle these complex questions.
