The Other Guys | Vulnerability Research in Alternative Android Web Browsers
If you own an android device and enjoy perusing the internet from time to time, you may be using one of the more popular browsers available for download on the Google Play store. This presentation is not about Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or even the Android stock browser. We are here to speak about the other guys; unsung heroes of your browsing adventures. These second string solutions boast not only a competing level of downloads, but also popularity in consumers. The focus is to examine alternative android browsers with the vulnerabilities they contain, which my lend to be a risky substitution. VerSprite's research is here to demonstrate different vulnerability classes that exists within these browsers. We will describe the tools and techniques that went into reversing each application for bug discovery, and demonstrate how attackers would target these browsers for exploitation.
