Lunch and Panel Presentation
Agile Transformation - Lesson Learned & Best Practices

The panel will be moderated by the SEI (Mary Ann Lapham. It will include representations from the major DoD Contractors such as Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. It is proposed that the session open with each member providing a 5 minute introduction. This will be followed by a Q&A session led by Mary Ann.

Mary Ann Lapham (Primary Presenter), Software Engineering Institute, mlapham@sei.cmu.edu;
Mary Ann Lapham, a Principal Engineer at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University, is the technical lead for SEI’s agile in acquisition research, focused on identifying and addressing barriers to adopting Agile practices in DoD and other government settings. She is also the Space Sector lead within the Software Solutions Division, Client Technical Solutions Directorate. Prior to her coming to the SEI in 2004, Ms. Lapham spent 30 years in technical and program management roles on programs of variable size and complexity. She also is a PMP and CSM.

John O'Hara (Co-Presenter), Raytheon, john_j_Ohara@raytheon.com;
John O’Hara is the Deputy Program Manager for the SWIFT (Software Innovations for Tomorrow) corporate initiative. In this role, John is responsible for advancing the deployment of Agile, Automation, Structure Reuse and Advanced Test Techniques throughout the enterprise.
John has 10+ years’ experience in leading software process improvement within Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). Previously John was the Cross-Discipline Agile Transformation and Adoption leader within Raytheon IDS. In this role, John successfully helped teams meet cost and schedule constraints through software process innovation by deploying Agile methods, providing Agile training, and improving team’s processes & tool sets.


Robin Yeman (Co-Presenter), Lockheed Martin, robin.yeman@lmco.com;
Robin Yeman works for Lockheed Martin (LM) Information Systems and Global Solution in Northern Virginia as a Lockheed Martin Fellow. She has over 20 years of experience in software and IT, across multiple business areas building everything from Satellites to Submarines. She has been actively supporting and leading Agile programs at Scale both domestically and internationally for the last 13 years with multiple certifications including Scaled Agile Program Consultant, Certified Scrum Practitioner, CSM, CSPO, PSM, PMP, PMI-ACP, INCOSE Certified Systems Engineer, and ITIL Practitioner. She actively coaches and trains teams through in person coaching, Agile workshops, virtual training classes. She leads the Lockheed Martin’s Agile Community of Practice and Center of Excellence, speaks at multiple conference engagements each year. Robin received her Master’s Degree in Software Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Ken Kubo (Co-Presenter), Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems/Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division, Ken.Kubo@ngc.com;
Ken Kubo is the Director of Mission Operations at Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems/Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division in Azusa, California. He is a Scaled Agile Framework Program Consultant as well as a Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner. With over 20 years of software systems development experience, Ken has been active in the transition to greater Agility as evangelist, coach, and trainer. He presents frequently at company and industry conferences as well as providing Agile training and workshops across the organization.

Debbie Brey (Co-Presenter), Boeing, deborah.l.brey@boeing.com;
Deborah Brey is an Associate Technical Fellow at Boeing with a background in Software Engineering. She has implemented Agile for her team since 2006 and has continued to grow, teach and coach the use of Agile for over 40 programs throughout the Boeing enterprise. She helped develop and deploy the Boeing Agile Software Process (BASP). She is currently leading a large-scale Agile transformation within the F-22 program that will extend the use of Agile to all aspects of the business, including systems engineering and project management.
