My poster is a visual representation of the Human Appropriation of Net Primary Production (HANPP) for the U.S. in 2012. Humans appropriate the earth's biomass through processes such as crop harvest, timber harvest, and grazing. These have been quantified and converted into the units of grams of carbon. When visualized as barcharts for each corresponding state, we are able to identify regional trends of HANPP across the US. HANPP patterns are important to the study of land use change and human impacts on the environment.
