'Large-Scale Monitoring – The Promise and Potential of US EPA’s National Aquatic Resource Surveys'

Abstract:

This presentation will discuss the challenges that led US EPA to work with State and Tribal partners to implement a national-scale monitoring program. Using lakes as an example, I provide an overview of the project design, offer an example of assessment results, and describe how the associated data has sparked scientific discovery and impacted policy.

Bio: Following graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Limnology, Amina Pollard took a post-doctoral position and then a staff position at the US Environmental Protection Agency. Amina Pollard’s work on aquatic ecosystems balances engaging in research, impacting policy, and supporting resource management decisions.
