Welcome
March 13, 2006 Dear Intermountain Conference Participant, We are excited for the return of the Intermountain Conference on Gifted Education. This is our 28th conference, and we feel we are putting together a great program for you. The conference will be held this year from June 12 through June 16 at the Eccles Conference Center on the Utah State University campus. This year’s theme is “Being Authentic with Gifted Learners.” Our first speaker will be Diane Van Ausdall, from Authentic Learning (the consulting group created by Dr. Grant Wiggins. Ms. Van Ausdall will focus on authentic assessment on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Our next speaker will be Dr. Ann Robinson from the University of Arkansas—Little Rock. She will speak, on Thursday, about her biography project and help us learn how to use the study of the authentic lives of gifted individuals with our students. Dr. Hunsaker will once again be our Friday motivational speaker. This year his presentation will focus on love as an authentic emotion for the classroom. Further information on each of these speakers is available on this website. As always we will have excellent break-out sessions presented by local educators. If you have a great idea to share, you’re invited to submit a proposal, which may be done electronically at this website. Information on registration is also available here. We look forward to receiving your registration and meeting with you this summer. Sincerely,
Scott L. Hunsaker
