7th Natural Resource Extension Professionals Conference



Pre-Conference Study Tour
WEDNESDAY, June 23 (6:30 AM) – FRIDAY, June 25 (5:00 PM)
Southern Transect: A review of Climate Change impacts and Sustainability of terrestrial and marine resources on a scenic route extending from Fairbanks south along the Tanana Valley and the Alaska range, skirting the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, and crossing the Chugach mountains, down to the seaside port of Valdez. Participants will be able to describe agricultural uses, community efforts toward sustainability, include viewing agriculture, sustainable communities, climate changes to rivers, glaciers and marine ecosystems, the economic importance of the Valdez port and pipeline terminal, commercial fishing and marine ecosystems.

Meet at the Loly Tilly Commons Parking Lot (on Tanana Loop) for your shuttles for the tour.

Denali National Park and Preserve and Southern Alaska Range via the Parks and Denali Highways: an abbreviated visit to interior Alaska. Highlights include: introduction to the Subarctic, Denali National Park tour and presentation: A Researcher's View of Challenges and Opportunities associated with Denali", visit Muire Science and Learning Center, and tour/discussion of the Southern Alaska Range along the Denali Highway including wildlife, rivers, mountains and wetlands.
